Initially, I thought the only skills I developed from my time in the Coast Guard would translate to a career in law enforcement, as a first responder, or the maritime industry. Fortunately, Flagstar saw more in me than just a boat driver with a degree. I have come to realize that the skills the military ingrained in me—leadership, teamwork, determination, and flexibility—have contributed to my successful career with Flagstar and have helped me provide “best in class” service to my clients.

Kourtney

One of my favorite things about working for Flagstar is their support for veterans and our military. The company and my management were completely supportive when I had to participate in drill weekends and my annual two-week commitment for the Navy Reserves.

Being in the Navy also led me to join the Veterans ERG, which puts together incredible events and presentations highlighting our military for Memorial and Veterans Day every year. 

I am very proud to be a part of a company that fully supports, encourages, and cares for our nation’s veterans.

Being a Marine had a significant impact on me. The skills I learned have directly translated to my career, where planning for the unexpected, thinking ahead, and understanding my team's strengths are crucial.

I also learned in the military the value of diversity and the unique experiences and perspectives everyone brings.

Lastly, the relentless pursuit of the mission applies to the work here: No matter what, keep getting back up and moving forward.
